Time for a new post, girls! I received this as an email from a friend and thought it would be interesting to see everyone's choices. And it's pretty appropriate for a book club. You're supposed to list only one book for each category. Put your choices in the comments, if you'd like, and we'll see what everyone says!
1. One book that changed your life.
2. One book that you've read more than once.
3. One book you'd want on a desert island.
4. One book that made you laugh.
5. One book that made you cry.
6. One book you wish had been written.
7. One book you wish had never been written.
8. One book you're currently reading.
9. One book you've been meaning to read.

1. Book that changed my life: The Problem of Pain, by C.S. Lewis
2. Book I've read more than once: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte(I read it three times during my senior year of high school because it was the book I chose for my senior paper).
3. Book I'd want on a desert island: Pride and Prejudice (what else? It's got it all!)
4. Book that made me laugh: Much Ado About Nothing (ok, it's technically a play, and not a book, but I've yet to read anything so masterfully clever).
5. Book that made me cry: Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton
6. Book I wish had been written: More Jane Austen, please! I imagine titles like, "Estates of Northumberland" or "Shrewsbury Park"
7. Book I wish had never been written: well, even though there may be some books that I really don't like, I would never say that they shouldn't have been written - at least I haven't read any yet that would qualify.
8. Book I'm currently reading: Freakonomics (at least I will be reading it when it comes in the mail!)
9. Book I've been meaning to read: The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (I've been meaning to read this since high school and I've had a copy of it since then that just sits on my shelf!)
Great post, Rachel.
Here are my answers- we'll see if anyone else ever checks this blog anymore!
1. Tis a Gift to be Simple (it's more in the process of changing it- but I can already see myself making different choices than I would have before I read it.)
2. A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers
3. Bible (not because I am super religious, it's just that those psalms would be comforting as I accept my fate.)
4. A Walk in the Woods by Bryson
5. So many, but to choose the latest one The Poisonwood Bible
6. I've got to agree with more Austen- I find myself wishing for that quite often.
7. I would say something like the Satanic Bible. Yuck.
8. Freakonomics. Only one chapter left- who wants it Sunday?
9. Technically, I've read this, but I skimmed it and want to really sit down and spend time studying it:
Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tripp- supposed to be one of the best discipline books ever written.
Here goes...
1. Book that changed my life - The Power of a Praying Wife/Parent by Stormie Omartian
2. Book I've read more than once - To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
3. Book I'd want on a desert island - The Bible (I could probably read that 24 hours a day for the rest of my life & I'll still never remember everything in it!)
4. Book that made me laugh - The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine (It should definitely be required reading for all pregnant women!)
5. Book that made me cry - Night by Elie Wiesel (And, so many others! It's hard to choose just one.)
6. Book I wish had been written - More books like The Red Tent by Anita Diamant (I enjoy reading fictional novels based on Biblical stories/characters. And, I really loved this novel!)
7. Book I wish had never been written - There is a book on Amazon that celebrates/glorifies pedophilia. I received a forwarded e-mail about it, asking me to write a letter of complaint to Amazon. So I looked up the book just to make sure it wasn't a hoax. Sure enough, it was a bonafide non-fiction book listed for sale, complete with a very disturbing summary. I was shocked & horrified, so I sent my hot little letter immediately!
8. Book I'm currently reading - A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (Thanks, Becky!)
9. Book I've been meaning to read - A Separate Peace by John Knowles
1. Book that changed my life: umm, not really sure
2. Book I've read more than once: The Secret Garden (My favorite children's book ever!)
3. Book I'd want on a desert island: The Bible (there's my church answer!)
4. Book that made me laugh: I agree Amberly, The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine made me crack up constantly too. (Thanks for loaning it to me Becky!)
5. Book that made me cry: There have been a few books that have made me cry...I just can't remember the titles.
6. Book I wish had been written: I am always excited when new Crichton and Grisham books come out.
7. Book I wish had never been written: I hadn't heard of the book about pedophilia, but that would be my choice too! That is horrible! I need to write a letter too.
8. Book I'm currently reading: Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg. I have finished Freakonomics if someone wants to borrow my book.
9. Book I've been meaning to read: Amazing Grace by Kathleen Norris
