Couldn't Resist

After finishing Left to Tell today, I tried to find the other book Amberly mentioned Machete Season: The Killers in Rwanda Speak at half price books. But they didn't have it, so I ordered it tonight because I really want to read it. If anyone else wants to borrow it when I am finished that would be fine. I hope to read it quickly once it arrives.

I'm so glad you got it!! After reading the article you e-mailed, I was going to recommend that we read that as well. Especially after I read this sentence in the article:
"Rwanda has the death penalty for crimes such as murder, but many of those convicted of genocide have been given lesser sentences because they proved they were forced to kill or did not plan the slaughter."

I think it will be very interesting (and tough) to read about this from their perspective.

Hello B.A.D. girls,

This note comes a little out of the blue, but I wanted to convey thanks for considering "An Ordinary Man" for your next book club pick. It was an honor to be included in the list, and "Left To Tell" is a very fine choice. If you should decide you want to read more about Rwanda, and if you wanted to reconsider "An Ordinary Man" for a future pick, I would be happy to answer questions about the book via phone or email. Paul was the primary author, of course, but I played a helping hand in the creation of the book and can talk about it to a limited degree. Anyway, forgive the intrusion and happy reading!

All the best,
Tom Zoellner
