A Twist

Here's a twist...instead of telling one of your most loved books, name a book that you hated. Hate is a strong word, so disliked might be better. A book you either could not finish, or did finish, but wonder why you did.
Two books I read recently that I really did not care for were The Historian by Kostova, and The Accidental Tourist by Tyler. One was a far fetched vampire story and the other a whiny account of a loser's life. I finished both of them, since I was already at least half way in by the time I realized I wasn't enjoying it. Another book I have started three times, but can never get more than a couple dozen pages into is The Hobbit. I find myself so bored and uninterested. I've heard it's a good book, but I can't get into it.
Have any books to warn us about?

Believe it or not, I absolutely cannot think of a book I've hated. Maybe Beowulf - we read it in 9th grade. I really do like most books. And I can't relate, Becky, to your not being able to finish The Hobbit, because I LOVE that book and the Lord of the Rings books too!

The one book that I absolutely disliked and could not finish was the Red Badge of Courage. We had to read it in high school, and I just thought it was awful. I may have had a bad attitude about it from the beginning though. That is the only book that I can think of that I have ever even remotely disliked. I normally like everything that I read.
Oh, and Becky, the Hobbit is great! :)
