Hey, remember our discussion on A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle? We talked about how he seemed to really hate tourists and tourism and how it ruined both his "experience" of Provence and Provence itself. The article I just read from Newsweek, written by him, says exactly the opposite - so what does he really think? I thought it was interesting.

You're right- this does seem to be a completely different tune than he sang in his book. I'd have to look back to be sure, but I do remember an awful lot of complaining from him about the tourists in Provence.
